Past projects
IKON has handled hundreds of projects ranging from a couple of hundreds to millions of dollars. No project is too big or small! We have highlighted some of our various work below.
mining
Former Abandoned Uranium Mine
IKON completed the Remedial Action of a Former Uranium Mine that was abandoned without completing decommissioning located in Three Rivers, Live Oak County, Texas. The work was performed under the guidance of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and Weston Solutions.
The site was divided into 6 remediation areas totaling approx. 94 acres. Upon completion of soil stabilization and waste removal activities, the site was restored to pre-remedial action grade and seeded with native grass.
Energy
Soil Stabilization Project
IKON was contracted to perform this rehabilitation of an active sludge land treatment unit at a chemical plant manufacturing facility located in La Porte, Texas. The approximate project value was $1.1 million.
We treated approximately 50,000 lcys of process water sediment with dry reagent (Fly Ash). The treatment unit consisted of a pond approximately 7 acres in size. Sediment in the unit ranged from 2 ft. to 8 ft. in thickness. The stabilized material was hauled to a licensed Houston area landfill.

Stabilization, Cap and Cover along the Texas Gulf Coast
IKON completed a stabilization, cap and cover project associated with over 8 acres of low-strength, saturated petroleum waste basins in an active petrochemical plant. A series of 4 waste basins had been consolidated, the subgrade strengthened, and capped with compacted fill prior to installing a multi-layer ClosureTurf system.
We utilized approximately 45,000 cubic yards of onsite borrow soil along with approximately 15,000 cubic yards of import clayey fill to build and shape the compacted earthen cap.
Transportation
Former Safe Tire Recycling Facility
IKON was contracted to remediate and restore a 40-acre parcel of property previously used as a scrap tire processing facility. We were tasked with excavating, loading, shredding, transporting and disposal of over 13,000 tons of whole, quartered, and shredded tires. The project was completed under budget and within proposed schedule limitations.
We mobilized a horizontal shredder to shred approximately 1,000 tons of passenger, truck and off-road tires. We arranged for the proper transportation and disposal of regulated tire shred and pieces to a TCEQ permitted landfill. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Manufacturing
Storm Water Drainage Ditch Rehabilitation
IKON was contracted to perform site remediation at a confidential client manufacturing facility located in Houston, Texas. The project entailed extensive clearing of trees and heavy brush along each side a man-made storm water drainage ditch. Once all vegetation was removed, the ditch soils were impacted primarily with heavy metals. The excavation performed was along the bottom and the two sides of this 1800 lineal feet long ditch.
Soils removed were surface related and excavation averaged approximately 1 foot in depth. We backfilled areas where soils were removed and built a new drainage ditch. Site was restored to better than original condition. We returned to the site a couple of years later and performed additional soil remediation.

Pad Site Expansion Project, Electrical Utility CompanyHouston, Texas
IKON recently completed the expansion of a 4-acre pad site consisting of 4,000 CY of embankment, 8,200 SY of lime stabilization of subgrade and 8,200 SY of 6” paving with 5% cement stabilized crushed limestone base. The project also involved the construction of a 17’ deep concrete lined stormwater detention pond consisting of 12,000 SF of 6” thick concrete side slopes.
The project also included the installation of 1,100 linear feet of storm sewer pipe and drainage inlets.
